10 Holistic Skin Firming Tips That Actually Work

10 Skin Firming Holistic Tips That Actually Work:
1. Red Light Therapy. Just 10 minutes of red light applied to the face and/or neck area significantly improves skin appearance, tone, and firmness. It’s not a gimmick, it is science, and it truly works. Redlight Therapy is one of the fastest and easiest ways to see a dramatic improvement in your skin health. In fact, Astronauts have been using Redlight Therapy in space to increase collagen production and rapidly heal skin and internal injuries for decades.
2. Vitamin C, both Topically and Internally. Vitamin C taken both internally and applied externally to skin through a topical Vitamin C Serum is an excellent way to promote wound healing, collagen formation, and overall immunity. The RDA for vitamin C is 45–120 mg, depending on your age and sex. And of course, we recommend Huna Rosehip Brightening Glow Oil with 10% Vitamin C and 1% Bakuchiol combined with Organic Rosehip Oil for an excellent daily protective topical Vitamin C serum.
3. Glycine Supplements. Glycine is a key essential amino acid responsible for collagen synthesis. While the body does naturally produce Glycine, supplementation may be beneficial, particularly when combined with other collagen-building nutrients like Proline and Vitamin C, as these nutrients support the skin to produce its own collagen.
4. Fascia Work and Release. Fascia is often overlooked, but it is crucially important to skin health. Fascia is best described as a network or “web” of connective tissue that forms beneath the skin, and surrounds and supports virtually every structure in the body- including muscles, bones, organs, nerves, and blood vessels. Fascia provides structural support, enables movement, and acts as a shock absorber. Skin appears the most healthy, glowy, toned and firm when the body’s fascia is healthy, hydrated, and flexible. To effectively hydrate fascia, focus on a combination of adequate water intake, movement, and bodywork techniques. Proper hydration, including electrolytes, and targeted movement to stimulate fluid flow within the fascia are crucial. Additionally, myofascial release, massage, and other bodywork can help release tension and improve circulation, promoting better fascial hydration.
5. Diet rich in Amino Acids & Antioxidants. A healthy, wholesome, nutritious, and diverse diet is key to overall health. However, in particular, Amino acids and Antioxidants are crucially important for maintaining healthy, vibrant, firm, and toned skin. Amino acids are the building blocks of Collagen and Elastin- which are two proteins that are vitally essential for maintaining skin’s structure and elasticity. Amino acids play a role in skin repair and wound healing, helping heal damaged skin cells and promote the growth of new, healthy tissue. Several amino acids are key for promoting skin firmness by contributing to collagen production and hydration. Specifically, Lysine, Proline, and Glycine are crucial for skin’s collagen synthesis. Antioxidants, on the other hand, play a crucial role in maintaining skin firmness by combating free radicals and promoting collagen production. Key antioxidants such as Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Vitamin A (Retinoids) are particularly effective in reducing wrinkles, fine lines, and improving skin elasticity, leading to a more youthful and firm appearance.
6. Facial Fitness. Facial fitness, or face yoga, refers to exercises and programs designed to strengthen and tone the facial muscles, potentially improving skin elasticity and appearance. Facial exercises can strengthen the muscles in the face, potentially leading to a more defined jawline or lifted appearance. There are plenty of different instructors and options for facial fitness or face yoga out there now, since facial fitness has been having a bit of a moment the past few years. One of my personal favourite international Facial Fitness Experts is Anastasiia Burdiug the founder of Super Face.
7. Lymphatic Massage. Supporting effective lymphatic drainage is important for helping the body remove toxins and wastes. When we have an overburdened lymphatic system, lymphatic fluid may collect and accumulate in the tissues, which often presents itself as puffy, swollen cheeks, a soft, undefined neckline, and sagging jowls. The lymphatic system becomes extremely important for women once we hit around age 40 and beyond. No one tells women this, of course, but the reality is that as we age, it becomes much more difficult to effectively detox and remove toxins from the body, as our bodies once did easily and seamlessly when we were younger. Living in our modern world means our detoxification organs and systems (liver, kidneys, lymphatic system, skin) are bombarded with toxins to process, filter, and remove on a daily basis. Once our detoxification organs and systems begin to slow down in our 40’s, its important to introduce manual lymphatic massage to help support that detoxification process along. Look into professional Lymphatic Massages, or take an online tutorial for self lymphatic massage using your hands or a Gua Sha tool, and make it a daily practice. Your skin, organs, and entire body will greatly benefit from a daily lymphatic practice.
8. Avoid Refined Sugars at all costs. Refined sugars directly cause inflammation to occur in the body’s tissues. This means the body’s tissues swell with inflammation because the body is retaining fluid (see lymphatics above), which clogs the body’s lymphatic system, hampers detoxification, and slows all of the body’s processes down. The body cannot detox effectively, and after the short sugar buzz has worn off, the body will feel slow and sluggish. Chronic inflammation from refined sugars will destroy your skin health by causing inflammation in the layers of tissues. Refined sugars cause skin to become saggy, losing elasticity, firmness, and tone. Not only that, consuming refined sugars creates deeper and more profound wrinkles in skin, contributes to redness, blotchiness, and the appearance of broken capillaries, and results in acne breakouts, enlarged pores, and sebum overproduction. Straight up, for so many reasons, refined sugars just aren’t worth the detriment to your health. Eat fruit, opt for unrefined sugars, or try to change your taste to crave savory foods instead.
9. Peptides. Introduce a high quality and high-performance natural peptide and collagen-supporting product into your skin routine. Collagen is the principal structural protein found in the body’s molecular matrix of proteins and proteoglycans, and is a polymer composed of over 1400 amino acid residues that are linked together by peptide bonds. As skin naturally ages, it becomes crucial to preserve collagen as best we can, while supporting the body to produce its own new collagen once again. You see, we cannot just formulate collagen into a cream, slather it onto skin, and expect it to have an effect. It really isn’t that easy with collagen. Instead, we must provide the skin with the correct balance of polypeptides, amino acids, essential nutrients, botanical actives, and stem cells, supported by a stellar exosome delivery system for deep dermal penetration, and the skin will then produce its own collagen and transform into healthy looking, vital, smooth, firm, toned and lifted skin once again. Huna Crème Collagen Firming Peptide Face + Neck Treatment is an advanced collagen-supporting cream that is crafted with a synergistic blend of potent age-defying and skin health improving actives. Crafted with 10 Natural and Biomimetic Peptides, Amino Acid Complex, Phospholipids, Collagen Boosters, Sustainable Saffron Stem Cells, Canadian Seaweed and Sea Kelp, Gluconolactone, and our exclusive proprietary organic Huna Herbal Firming Complex, this firming collagen-supporting cream is clinically proven and crafted right here in Canada.
10. Keep Hydrated. Last but not least, the classic “stay hydrated” recommendation is always key for maintaining healthy, glowing skin, but also incredibly crucial for a healthy lymphatic system, supporting detoxification, and ensuring absorption of nutrients. Water truly is life, and it is said the future of wellness lies within water. If you want to up your game around the healing power of water, check out Structured Water, Hydrogen Water, and Deuterium Water. And be sure to add minerals (such as Celtic Sea Salt) to your water for optimal absorption and hydration.
