The Holistic Mind Review’s Huna Cleansing Creme

In the last year I have really been on a cleanser kick. As you may have read, my cleanser before this holistic journey was Bioderma. I loved how gentle it was on my skin, and that I could remove my makeup with it without washing my face (I’m tellin’ ya, I’m pretty easy to please).
Finding the right face cleanser can be a little overwhelming, or at least I used to think so. There are foaming cleansers, cleansing oils and liquids – how is a girl to choose? There are benefits to every kind of cleanser, but you definitely need to choose the right one for your skin type, or skin concerns, i.e. acne prone, wrinkles, fine lines, eczema etc.
I have combination skin, with predominantly dry skin in the winter months. I’ve never had an issue with acne, and am in my late 20’s. So, I’m usually looking for a cleanser that is soothing, hydrating, and packs a lot of punch with it’s ingredients. I love a cleanser rich in fatty acids, that can help with the look of wrinkles or fine lines. I used to be a fan of the ol’ tanning beds when I was younger, so I’ve spent a lot of time trying to reverse that damage.
One type of cleanser I hadn’t heard of so far has been a cleansing cream. Portia-Ella sells a line of products by a brand called Huna Apothecary. They are based out of southern Manitoba at their Huna Homestead on their 138 acreage property. They create rich, amazing skin care products to enhance your natural glow, while fighting the early signs of ageing. They currently have 3 different lines:
1) Revitalize – for normal/combination skin
2) Clarify – for oily, blemished or acne prone skin
3) Nourish – for dry, dehydrated, inflamed or sensitive skin
I absolutely fell in love with a cleanser from their revitalize line – Revitalize Cleansing Cream + makeup remover. It is vegan, and has 100% natural ingredients.
I love using a cleanser in the morning to prep my skin, as well as in the evening when I am removing my makeup. You can really smell the mango and ucuuba butter (ucuuba butter has a natural, earthy scent).
This cleanser comes with a linen bag, a bamboo spatula for the cream, and a super soft Muslin cloth to wipe the cream off your face
with water when you’re finished. My skin is always left super soft, and it removes my makeup fabulously. The cream melts into a liquid consistency once you massage it into your skin as well.
And if I haven’t mentioned it enough lately…I’m turning 30 this week! The anti-ageing, cell-regenerating, soothing properties of this cleanser make it one of my new favourites to add into my weekly routine as I near this new decade. My skin is always changing, so obviously my skin care routine will have to change along the way.
But…I’m better with facts when it comes to products, so here’s a little rundown of the Revitalize Cleansing Cream:
Skin types that this cleansing cream is good for:
- Dry or dehydrated skin
- Combination skin
- Dullness
- Inflamed or sensitive skin
Benefits of unrefined ucuuba butter:
- Replenishes moisture, firmness and tone to skin

Benefits of organic mango butter and jojoba oil

While pineapple and papaya extracts contain bromelain and papain enzymes that brighten and balance your skin.
My skin is so happy using this cleansing cream, I highly recommend you scope out their website and products to see which line would be the best fit for you. If you have any questions about your skin care routine, where to shop, or need some more feedback about this product, you know where to find me!
Much Love – happy shopping XOXO
